Annual Frigid Turlington Photoshoot

Our last two family photoshoots have been while we are vacationing in North Carolina and in sub-30 degree weather with 20+mph winds. When else do we have time to get our lives together enough to look like decent human beings and dress up together? I tacked this photoshoot onto our trip the first week of January because I could just bottle up this age of both Rhett and Andi right now.

Rhett is teetering between being my little toddler and now a little boy! Andi is just the queen of our universe and gets more rotten every day.

The execution of my vision for this photoshoot accurately reflects the condition of our brains right now - fabulous idea with lotssssss of holes poked in it. I found Rhett's velvet blazer on clearance about a year ago in hopes he would still be able to fit into it next time we did family pictures. Well, I forgot about that purchase approximately 0.5 seconds later and only realized a couple weeks before our trip. With that revelation, I realized we needed to dress to impress if his blazer was going to work, hence the sequin gown (things were escalating REALLY fast). I'm pretty sure I told John about the formality of our photos the night before we left for our trip and he was THRILLED as you can imagine.... so thrilled, he totally forgot to pack anything but hiking apparel, which we discovered the night before out shoot.

On the day of our session, we searched high and low in the little town we were staying in and I'm pretty sure we located the only XL shirt for sale in 50 square miles. Black, plaid flannel. Beggars can't be choosers, so here we are. I threw on my denim jacket to "dress down" my gown and out the door we went!

As hilariously mismatched our outfits are and how incredibly cold it was, we still managed to have a blast during the 10 minutes the kids gave us for photos 🤣 Photoshoots don't ever have to go according to plan (and likely never do) for your to still love your final product - I can attest!

Big thanks to Jessica at Wayfaring Wanderer who graciously took us on as her clients for this session! She did an awesome job and I highly recommend if you are ever in the Boone area!
